One such individual would be Colin Huggins, a pianist who never fails to show up in New York city park on a daily basis.
“Each day I have to go to Manhattan Mini Storage, pick up the piano which is on its side, legs removed, and it’s all wrapped up. I bring it down the ramp and through the parking lot there, and then I’m good to go,” he explained. After picking up the heavy musical instrument, he still has to push it down a couple of blocks to Washington Square Park. In the process, he mentioned that he tries his best to obey the traffic rules. Upon arriving at his destination and setting the piano up and running, he would start playing spontaneously. The daily performance by him has managed to attract crowded of both locals as well as tourists.
In the documentary series New Yorkers, a hot August day is spent with Colin as he reflects on the passion he possesses for music along with his ambition and determination to do something more than the usual. Whenever he plays for people, he will definitely pride in the rapport he builds with his audience. In fact, a fan of his even wrote a note to him stating that, “The first time I heard you playing was the moment I fell in love with New York”.
