Linda Pomella has been teaching the piano from her home in Brighton Township for more than thirty years. She would always welcome her students with a warm smile and taught them patiently. Through her piano lessons, it helped them to grow their love and passion for music. More importantly, she made each one of them feel special. In fact, she was so well liked that her former students would get their children to take piano lessons from her too.
“She was like a grandmother to everyone who came in there,” explained Sarah Carrico, who took lessons from Linda when she was still a child. According to her, Linda had “the biggest heart and kindest smile”. Sarah even got both of her daughters to learn how to play the piano from her.
Unfortunately, last Friday afternoon near Traverse City, Linda was involved in a car accident along with her boyfriend, Chuck Frame. Sadly, she didn’t manage to make it out alive. Her boyfriend is still recovering from injuries. According to the reports, Chuck lost control of the car on a snowy road, crossed the center line and struck another car. After finding out about her death, many area residents and former students were saddened by it. During her years of teaching, Linda taught over hundreds of children and at the moment, she still has sixty students with her.
“She honestly touched so many kids lives. She was just one of those teachers that got close with students and their families. She was a mother figure to everybody. I’m a confident woman, and I owe that to my mother,” added Christina Reynolds, her daughter. Christina, along with her two other siblings, Linda Summers and David Pomella, have released a statement about their mother. “She taught her students how to play piano and in many ways guided them through life. She was a mother to us all. Our mom will be sorely missed, but she will live on through so many as they play beautiful music,” the statement said.
“She always had a smile. She was just a kind, kind soul,” said Amy Vandemergel, who grew up living next to Linda Pomella as a child. At the end of each lesson, Linda would give the children stickers and more recently, candy to motivate them to practice. For the full story, you can refer here.
