For those of you who are still unaware, the Euro 2012 cup actually kicked off last Friday for those in Europe, and Saturday for those living in most Asia Pacific countries due to the time zone difference. The opening ceremony and first match took place in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, who are also one of two of the host nations. The other host nation is Ukraine.

The opening ceremony started off with an elegant dance number before Adam Gyorgy, a Hungarian classical pianist took centre stage. The pianist started off by playing the Etude opus 25 N. 11 by Chopin, who was a 19th century Polish composer. Adam then went on to perform an original piece that he composed along with DJ Karmatronic. The transition between both the songs also reflected the change from the traditional times to the modern society. For the full story and more about the opening ceremony, you can check it out from here.

Who would have guessed that a classical piano piece would have been featured in a soccer tournament? Most people would have thought that it would be more of an upbeat dance track. Nonetheless, Adam’s performance still wowed the many spectators at the stadium and even those at home. He has proven that an introduction to a soccer tournament with a classical piano piece is just as powerful as any other upbeat tracks. Furthermore, he was playing a piece by one of the most highly acclaimed musicians of all time, Chopin. This is not an easy task as Chopin’s pieces are extremely technical and requires ample practice. However, Adam was still able to ace it.

A pianist always have something to share with the rest of the world. This is something that Adam was able to do. After playing the piece from Chopin, he carried on with his own composition, which he composed specifically for the tournament. By sharing this with the rest of the world, he is able to gain recognition. This will definitely be a stepping stone and also a milestone for his career.

In Singapore, there are many individuals who would like to experience the kind of exposure that Adam was able to. However, having the knowledge and right set of skills are the first thing that you should focus on. If you aren’t ready for the big stage, you might get swallowed by the pressure and not be able to perform to your best. Hence, constant hard work and practice is required.
