In England, there is currently a “Play Me, I’m Yours.” initiative ongoing throughout the nation. Pianos are basically being placed on the streets across the nation for anyone to play. These pianos tend to be donated and of quite old age already. We have previously mentioned in one of our post about a Noisy Piano Getting Removed due to complaints. It is unfortunate because such a creative project can end up in the wrong light if the public abuses the piano and cause a disturbance to others.

Although they will always be some that try to spoil the initiative, there are still others that continue to impress. In the city of Cambridge, there are a total of 15 such pianos being placed throughout the city. It is very common to see people stopping by to take a look, especially when someone starts playing it. A recent YouTube video featuring a gifted young prodigy playing Franz Liszt’s “La Campanella” has recently gone viral and caught international attention as well. Take a look below.

This was taken at the busy Sussex Street shopping district, where many passerby actually stopped to watch the young boy perform. Many of them were also amazed and in awe of his skills at such a young, tender age. Although the quality of the video might not be the best, the young boy’s playing alone shines through all else. The most magnificent thing about it all is that it was taken in a public shopping centre. You can read more about it over here.

In a way, this actually helps to bring the community closer together. It allows pianists from different walks of life to be able to interact with each other. At the same time, they will also be able to learn from one another. This is something that every musician does in order to better themselves. Unfortunately, we do not have such an initiative here in Singapore. Even if we did, it might not actually work out the same way. This is because everyone is always in such a rush for work and school that sometimes, we don’t even have the time to appreciate music or the arts in general, which is really such a waste.

At Piano Lessons Singapore, we want Singaporeans to appreciate the finer things in life and learn to enjoy life instead of purely just working or studying. Check out our website for the various piano lessons that we offer.
